TANU and Parliament Complex

TANU AND PARLIAMENT COMPLEX

Description

This complex is located on the Hombolo Ridge, immediately to the north of Chimwaga, on a 32 ha area. It overlooks the city, but is separated from the built-up areas by open spaces on the slopes of the ridge.

It will be connected with the city by the Processional Way, and with Morogoro Road, to the east of the city, by a parkway.

Policies

The character of the TANU and Parliament Complex should be representative of the nature and aspirations of Tanzania and its people. As such, the policies and criteria for its design should be established by the government at the appropriate time.

To ensure the widest opportunities for such design expression, the site for the TANU and Parliament Complex and its surroundings should be kept free of other buildings.

The complex shall have adjacent to it the ministries and other government departments that relate especially to it. For example, the offices of the President and Vice Presidents, the Ministry of Planning and Development and the Ministry of Finance.
