Chapter IV: Land Use Policies, Capital City District - Forest/Game Controlled Areas

Large areas in the Dodoma Hills, along the Hombolo Ridge and in the Hombolo Hills are unsuitable for agriculture, due to their topographic and soil conditions. They offer excellent opportunities as natural conservation areas.

The Dodoma Hills, Hombolo Ridge and Hombolo Hills areas should be designated as Forest/Game Controlled areas.

Houses and other types of community development, as well as agricultural uses, should be strictly prohibited. However, controlled recreational use of these areas should be permitted and facilitated; e.g. hiking and natural trails, picnic areas, nature interpretive centres, lookouts and so on.

Forest/Game Controlled Areas should be improved by means of reforestation and erosion control works.
